New Release - For Now Track 9: For Love, Labour, Loss

A preview of Track 9 of For Now an unfolding album.

The final track of Part II is dedicated to Action for Children. Previously known as the National Children’s Home, this charity ran the orphanage in Whitby, Yorkshire, that took in my grandad, Lawrence Kidd, in the 1920s.

For Love, Labour, Loss weaves some of my memories of Lawrence together - a mixture of nostalgia, joy and sadness on his passing. The song features two amazing instrumentalists:  Laetitia Stott as melodious French Horn and Stephanie Oatridge as lyrical Oboe.

You can get the full song on For Love, Labour, Loss - Single - David Ibbett & amazon mp3.

For Now is an unfolding album written for the Internet.

Direct, energizing, but also deeply thoughtful, these ‘songs without words’ are drawn from experiences mundane & intense - written as a companion for both activity and reflection.

:: Cambrian Air ::

Cambrian Air - for horn duo and electronics - was commissioned for the June 2011 Seven Bridges street festival, an artistic regeneration project of Loughborough Junction. The piece was premiered outdoors under the Cambria Bridge by horn players Meredith Moore and Laetitia Stott.

On a theme of the Cambrian Explosion - of new life, evolution and regeneration - the piece takes the St Francis melody as the theme in a set of joyous (and chaotic) variations.
